Many if not all African countries have got their domestic leagues and more that 10 clubs at least in every African state do participate in the domestic leagues competitions but only a few players have come through the ranks and the clubs themselves have not made a landmark in their bid to match the pace at which European clubs are making their footprints felt in the world of football history

Inadequate funding
Most of the activities need to be funded so that football can flourish , and mostly it’s a task of government to fund these clubs through respective football governing bodies in all African countries and this has halted a lot of talents from being spotted ,
Lack of better training and playing facilities
When you read and watch documentaries to with great African stars who have made a milestone to realize the full potential by working out their way to world scene, you must agree with me that you will find the common fact being that they used to play football in early childhood from dusty streets in their countries and also had to go through a lot of huddles to earn call ups for professional contracts
Liberia’s George Weah , Senegal’s Sadio mane, Cameroon’s Samuel Eto`o among so many other black players have a common background and the question remains where are the other talents they emerged with during their course of development?, what happened to them ? . And the concise answer to this is just rotating on training facilities. When we compare the training facilities in Europe and other continents [whose football has a global effect] have got their government’s priotize supporting the domestic clubs
Racism
When I speak of racism , tears flow down my cheeks as am talking about it because this have been at its peak as far as the world of football and when I reminisce how it has halted many African talents who would have otherwise lifted the African flag higher, I get totally depressed but have to talk about it. In the first instance in Europe in so called elite leagues we’ve witnessed chants of racism and most recent belong in Italian Serie A when the one Lukaku was subjected to the chants. This has lowered morale among several players who end up leaving the profession which has halted our development in the world of football.
