African Cup of Nations: Kenyan to officiate

Date:

Aden Marwa will be the only Kenyan whistler who will officiate at this year’s Africa Cup Of Nations tournament from January 21 in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.

This will be the first time a Kenyan referee will be given the duties at a   major event having sat out in the cold for several years.

Marwa officiated at last year’s Fifa Under 17 world championships in Mexico. He has also officiated in the Kenya Premier League (KP)L) matches and is considered one of the top whistlers in the country.

Last month, he officiated in some of the matches in the Tusker Senior Challenge Cup staged in Dar es salaam, Tanzania.

Last week, Fifa dispatched a list of Kenya accredited referees but he newly elected soccer body Football Kenya Federation(FKF) rejected the list after citing several irregularities that included names of unqualified  whistlers. The list was wired back to Fifa headquarters for further amendmen
